"Moon Trance"
This particular melody is comprised of middle and high notes in order to launch a quick string of attacks while allowing Frey to move around to it's quick beat. The middle tones are used to knock his opponent back where as the strings of higher notes are used to hurtle sharp attacks at the legs or arms of his opponent in an attempt to stop their movement and render them paralyzed.
"Song Of The Caged Bird"
Made up of a mix of low to mid notes, this song is a slower paced song which requires a little more concentration which means that Frey's movements are somewhat restricted. The mid notes which have the quicker pace allow him to attack while moving around which is used to put an opponent off balance which then allows him to drop to the lower tones. The lower tones are used to deal powerful attacks which will cause the heaviest amount of damage to the opponent who has already been put off balance which means the attacks are 100% likely to hit!
"Crystallize"
This particular melody focuses on mid and low tones with a slightly faster pace than most of the lower toned songs. Because of the scales in the song, with the progression from mid to low and then back up again, the song allows for short bursts of movement with middle weight attacks before then pausing to deal a horrifyingly strong attack. Its an upbeat, quick and light on his feet kind of song which can prove to be annoying for people who are slower or lack evasive skills.
"Elements"
This song is once of two songs beside "Death's Melody" that uses all three pitches to attack. This song however isn't as heavy of a burden to Frey because he can pause from playing and then restart whenever the moment arises. Although it has a mix of all pitches, he is still able to move around to the song because he has the freedom to move with the higher pitched notes which are composed into the song more than lower notes. A deadly song indeed however, it doesn't have as much power as the others given that most of it is composed with the higher part of the scale in mind. Though it is said that Frey tends to prefer to use this melody to kill due to the fact it poses less of a risk to his own life.
"Shadows"
"Shadows" is the second of two songs which uses all the pitch ranges to attack. This being one of Frey's favorite songs to play because of it's upbeat nature, he can play the song with ease, hardly taking up any of his energy or focus to play. He uses the breaks of higher pitches to move swiftly but also to attack with a shower of senbon needle like attacks. The middle pitches he uses in an attempt to paralyze his foes with slightly stronger attacks aimed at places like the muscles in the legs and arms. The low notes are used to deliver full power attacks, usually either knocking his challenger out or, if they've managed to push him, to take their lives. Again, this song does not pose the same threat as "Death's Melody" so Frey tends to use this to kill rather than "Shatter Me"
"Shatter Me"
This is "Death's Melody", not what you'd expect right? This is the only song that has lyrics which also play a part in casting the deadly attack. The mix of the pitches means that it not only brings death, it makes sure the victim suffers before their death. The higher notes bring the slices to the victim's body, the mid tones providing a beating and then the lower tones to deal out the blows which break bones and when all is said and done, a mid to high pitched note strikes at the heart (or whatever is the main source of life in the opponent) and delivers the final blow. The lyrics are similar to having to say a 'spell' or 'incantation' which provides the power to totally destroy or 'shatter' the body of the person that Frey is fighting however, if he stops, it could end up with him destroying his own body in the same way!
This melody cannot be stopped once started! The person playing the melody is totally vulnerable while playing because they cannot make a mistake, miss a beat or move while playing the melody and if they stop playing, the melody affects them and takes their life for failing to complete the song!
Frey tends not to use this song unless he can certify his own survival. Though he's been known to risk it on the odd occasion, he still opts for "Shadows" or "Elements" when killing.
